A unique, waterfront venue located in the heart of Rhode Island’s boating district, the Herreshoff Yachting Museum hosts a modern day collection of boating, shipbuilding, and sailboat artifacts inspired by the legendary Herreshoff’s. Their boat building skills lead to the creation of 5 America’s Cup defenders (all of which were victorious). Its convenient location, midway between Providence and Newport, makes this venue a favorite among hosts and guests coming from Massachusetts, Providence, or Newport.
The museum’s rustic yet refined setting plays host to exhibits that are constantly changing, currently showcasing a collection of nearly 60 ships including some of the Vanderbilt’s personal boats, and the Herreshoff’s own yachts. The Museum has facilities available for clambakes, meetings, private parties, and wedding receptions and is equipped with a 60 x 90 tent, which can accommodate as many as 300 guests for a seated dinner. Other options are available including the use of a series of smaller tents setup on the adjacent piers overlooking the Narragansett Bay. This is an ideal setting for a cocktail party or reception for up to 60 guests. For those seeking to make the collection of yachts a focal point for their event, the inside gallery space is available for cocktails, presentations, or dinner seating for up to 90.
